Main Library - 1st and 3rd floor - stock moving

The current journals, newspapers, newspaper indexes and microfilms on the 1st floor of the Main Library in George Square are being moved to the 3rd floor between Monday 22nd June 2009 and Wednesday 24th June 2009.

However, it is expected, material will only be unavailable for the short time it is removed from the shelves, in transit between floors and re-shelved.

3rd European Variety in Chemistry Education with Variety in Chemistry Education

2nd – 4th September 2009,

The European counterpart of the UK conference Variety in Chemistry Education, is devoted to practical aspects of chemical education at tertiary (university) level. It provides a forum for the:

·exchange of ideas related to teaching and learning chemistry at degree level
·sharing of good practice and innovation
·dissemination of outcomes of pedagogic research as it relates to chemistry at university level in Europe

The submission of abstracts is invited for workshops, oral communications, oral Bytes. The deadline for submissions is 30th June 2009.

Main Library - ground floor - café open soon

Part of the "new" ground floor of the Main Library, George Square will be open for use next week: The new Main Library Café will be open on Monday 15th June.

During June and July, it will be open Mon-Fri, 9am to 4pm. Until the 1st of July access to the café will be from outside using the new external café doors.

CDS petition for continued funding and Shibboleth access

CDS has an iPetition set up to help produce a Statement of Need (SoN) to ensure future EPSRC funding for a national chemical database facility.
